LocalSprout Grows Solutions
LocalSprout is committed to connecting eaters with as much sustainable food as possible. We grow crops in downtown San Antonio, usually hydroponically and always pesticide-free. We grow crops at the San Antonio Food Bank. We built a Food Hub with space for all sorts of different food and beverage companies to make their artisan products to distribute across the country. We build and maintain gardens at restaurants for them to grow their own food.
Our goals are simple:
- Increase access to healthy food for all people
- Reduce the environmental impact of food production
- Teach everyone about a better food system
As we discover more ways to profitably connect consumers with good food, we'll figure out a way to make it work. For now, farming, gardening, and building up the Food Hub is keeping us pretty busy.
To us, sustainable means food grown with few pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and synthetic fertilizers. Its production shouldn't cause a lot of fertilizer runoff or greenhouse gas emissions. Usually, those foods are local.
Our Food Hub is at 503 Chestnut Street in downtown San Antonio. To drop by, make sure to either make an appointment through our Contact Us page or come to the MidWeek Market on Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. We love visitors, but since we're busy farming and manufacturing great foods, we don't have anyone on hand to greet and tour drop-ins during most hours.
